Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.

1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us.

2. This Sunday we looked at the comforting words from Jesus
as recorded in John 14:1-6. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you? What encouraged you, or posed a challenge to you?

3. Read John 14:1-6. “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” “Believe in” here has the sense of “have faith in, trust in.” Have there been circumstances or occasions when you have struggled to believe that God was there with you and for you? How did you regain that trust in Him?.

4. Jesus told the disciples (and us) that a place is being prepared for us with Him, and that we know where it is and how (the way) to get there. Are we like Thomas and Phillip – if you were there, would you have further questions for Jesus?

5. “I am the way, the truth and the life” (v. 6). In v. 7 Jesus goes on to explain that if we know Him, we also know the Father. As we grow as Christians and grow in our relationship with Jesus, we become more and more like Him. Implicit in this is, that as He is the way, so we are to be the way and show the way to our friends and neighbours. How can we do that? Does that idea challenge you?

6. Take a moment of silence to consider how God is speaking to you through these verses. Is He asking you to make changes or to do something new? What concrete steps of response do you want to take? How can your group support you in these steps?
