Acts of kindness
1. What catches your attention in this text? Is it a specific act of kindness? Is it Jesus' emphasis on acts of kindness? Or something else? Why?
2. Do you think of yourself as a kind person? In the past week, can you think of kind acts that you have performed? Can you see yourself being more intentional about finding ways to act kindly? How?
Briefly discuss the tension between Jesus' statements about kindness as a criteria for entering God's kingdom in Matt. 25 and the clear understanding of salvation as articulated in Romans 10:9.
Are you willing to accept Pastor Neal's suggestion that we have the privilege of believing and declaring, both are true?
Acts of kindness? Expressions of love? Or both?
Are there differences between love and kindness. Is so, what are they? If so, do they matter when it comes to acting in Christlike ways towards others?
This is Hula Hoop Kindness
Inner kindness is everything inside the circle. This is the kindness inside us.
Outer kindness is what we do for others without their participation.
More about Hula Hoop kindness
1. What kind of challenges come to mind when you think about inside kindness?
2. What gets in the way of practicing outside kindness?
3. Which is harder for you?
4. What will you do this week to work on one or both of these?
1. This week, repeat one inner kindness exercise each day. For example, remember a positive thing someone said about you recently and repeat it to yourself. Or, read Zephaniah 3:17 and replace the words “your” and “you” with your name.
2. Each day, put a ring on a different finger or watch on a different wrist. Leave it there until you do one act of kindness, then move it back to its regular place.
