Discipline is a mark of being God’s child and of His deep love for us. Each member of the Christian community struggles against temptation and sin. God helps in the struggle by His care for us as a Father that is sometimes rebuking and sometimes disciplining but always loving. God’s discipline is good for us, leads us to worship Him, and brings us to responsible maturity.
A good theology of suffering doesn’t take away the pain, but it means that when you do go through a time of suffering, it doesn’t ___________ ______________.
“They are holy by being made partakers of God’s holiness, Hebrews 12:10. The saint has spiritual joy and pleasure by a kind of ‘pouring out’ of God on the soul.” -Jonathan Edwards
Memory verse: ““No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11
