When my Broken Humanness Persists

My Problem with Human Brokenness?

- Physical: Disease, Injury, Death
- Mental: Handicap, Trauma, Dementia
- Emotional: Situational, Chronic, Clinical
- Addiction: Compulsiveness, Dependence, Destructive

Some Observations about Broken Humanity

- Brokenness is not a sign of sinfulness
- Being a Christian does not prevent becoming broken
- Being broken is not itself unchristian
- Everyone will ultimately be broken

Why I May Think Brokenness Cannot Be Holiness:

- Holiness requires perfect, and broken is not perfect
- My brokenness is what keeps me from being holy
- Only by overcoming brokenness, can I become holy
- Unless I become unbroken, I can never be holy

What if My Human Brokenness is Never Eliminated?

- If time does not heal?
- If my efforts do not work?
- If my outside help cannot help?
- If a miracle does not come?

The Real and Present Danger of My Human Brokenness

- If it is used as an excuse for sin
- If it becomes an occasion for disbelief
- If it leads to an attitude of bitterness
- If it results in spiritual isolation

My Human Brokenness Becomes Holy When

- I honestly admit my human brokenness to God
- I fully consecrate my broken self to God
- I completely trust in God's grace in my borkenness
- I humbly submit myself to Christ-like service as broken

God's Holiness Becomes My Holiness Because He

- Joins me in my suffering
- Sustains me in my weakness
- Empowers me by His Spirit
- Uses me as for His glory

God's grace becomes best known through my brokenness.
