Be Careful How You Build [November 10, 2019] Greg Burlile
1. Build on the Right Foundation (vss. 10-11)
2. Build with the Right Materials (vss. 12-15)
Build up the church with materials that will last, that will stand the test of judgement, and receive a reward. (see Revelation 3:18)
BUILD THE CHURCH UP with GODLY WISDOM ….NOT WORLDLY WISDOM
Poor building materials: Building using the wisdom of the world
Quality materials: Building with God’s wisdom in mind

3. Remember Who You Are as You Build Up the Church (vss. 16-17)
We are God's temple. As such, His presence dwells among us.
The local church is the corporate place of God’s dwelling, who, when gathered in Jesus’ name, experienced the presence and power of the Lord Jesus in their midst.
God is holy; his temple is therefore also holy, set apart for his purposes; and as his temple, you are by implication also to be holy. So, be careful how you build up the church.

4. Build with the Right Focus (vss. 18-20)
Let no one boast in men and worldly wisdom.
The world depends on promotion, prestige, and the influence of money and important people. The church depends on prayer, the power of the Spirit, humility, sacrifice, and service.
Focus on bringing God glory. The "church" does not belong to the leaders, but the leaders belong to God and are for the benefit of the church. They are therefore ALL ours and for our benefit and service.
