• God’s plan and promise for Kingship in Judah
The story of Isaiah 7
• Ahaz is King in Judah
• Rezin, King of Syria, and Pekah, King of Israel, form an military alliance to overthrow Ahaz and establish their own king in his place
• They wanted a three nation confederate to fight the powerful Assyrian army that was growing in strength
• These two nations had fought Judah before and done damage but now they are joining forces – Ahaz is extremely afraid, v.2
• Isaiah steps in with a Prophetic word to the King
God’s Word through the Prophet Isaiah
• Be quiet and easy in your heart – do not resort to extreme measures to
compensate for your fear and devise your own strategy to fulfill your
plans
• These enemies are “smoking firebrands”
• They have hurt you before
• They have lost their ability to make fire – they are powerless before you now!
• They had their chance to overcome you but You Still Standing
• They are fighting Me not You – “It Shall Not Stand”
• It was an attempt to alter and destroy His plan for you but there is Power in His Promise
• The best of what you have lost will return – Shear-Jashub
• His word will be established by a sign – Isaiah 7:14
