How Jesus Saw the Sick and Disabled (Luke 14:1-6)
How to Follow Jesus’ Example (Luke 14:12-14)

Getting Started

1.What was helpful to you in this week’s sermon? What didn’t you understand?

2.How has God used health challenges to test and develop your faith?

Going Deeper

3.Please read Luke 14:1-6. Why do you think Jesus was invited to this luncheon? What do you notice about His attitude toward the sick man? Why does He ask this question? Why don’t the other guests answer? After Jesus heals the sick man and sends him home, what is the second question He asks of the guests? What’s the point He’s making? How does Jesus see the Sabbath differently than these religious leaders?

4.Please read Luke 14:12-14. Why would these instructions to His host have been shocking to the typical religious leader? How did the Jews view the sick and the disabled? In what ways are we like them?

5.How can we follow Jesus’ example in how to love our sick and disabled neighbors? (In addition to vs. 12-14, note Matthew 25:36.) What does Jesus say should motivate us to love the sick and disabled?

6.What do you think the sick and disabled need most from us?
