Psalm 100

Psalm 100 has been said to be the second most favoritepsalm, second only to Psalm 23.

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100:1-5 (NIV)

This psalm offers 4 directional guide-posts that every Christ-follower should follow if we want to live a life reflecting God’s best!

1. WE MUST Worship God PASSIONATELY! (vv. 1-2)

2. WE MUST Serve God Gladly! (v. 2)

3. WE MUST Love God INTELLECTUALLY! (v. 3)

4. WE MUST Thank God CONTINUALLY! (vv. 4-5)

APPLICATION:

The author of Psalm 100 tells us to thank God for his goodness, his faithfulness, and his unending love. All these are embodied best in the person of Jesus. If you've never repented of your sins — and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior, do so today. Once you’ve received him, you'll not only have the assurance of heaven, but also the newness of life. With Christ enthroned in your life, you'll find gratitude welling up inside.

This week, watch for the blessings of God in your life — and when you discover them, respond immediately by giving Him thanks. In like manner, watch for the kindness of others in your life, when you discover it, say thanks to them as well. Thanks living is the only way to live!
