ThornCreek Church
Grateful :: Grumbling Ingratitude
There is incredible power in having an attitude of gratitude. Truth is, it’s not something that comes natural to us. But, throughout the Bible, you see a heart of thanksgiving is part of a healthy soul. During this three week series, we will look at how to have a heart of gratitude...even when things don’t go our way!

Feed 5000 | Mon-Fri, Nov 12-16
We will be assembling 1,600 boxes of food that include everything needed to prepare a full holiday dinner for a family of 4-6 people. Each box includes a turkey! These boxes will be distributed through the schools we serve, as well as to community members who may need some extra love this holiday season. Help us give our neighbors the dignity of preparing a meal in their own home when they otherwise would go without. Find out how you can be a part of this at thorncreek.church/feed5000

Renaissance Weekend | Sun, Nov 18
Don't miss this exciting annual event at ThornCreek Church. This worship service is the culmination of our Feed 5,000 week and it's a great opportunity to worship and serve alongside other ThornCreekers. We'll have worship along with the residents of the Renaissance Apartment complex then we'll cap off this exciting week, by providing full Thanksgiving meals to those in attendance. There will be no church on Saturday the 17th so plan on coming out and experiencing this event as an entire church body.

ThornCreek Children’s Ministry strives to partner with families to raise children in the way of Jesus. It’s our goal for children to be transformed by the love of God, to grow in their walk with God, surrender their lives to God, and be a light in the world for others to know God in the same way.

Our curriculum takes the kids through the Bible in a year and they are invited into The Big God Story to experience it and discover who God is and how they fit into His plan!

We believe that parents have a huge impact on the faith of their children! Every Monday, parents are emailed a Family Bible Study that you can do throughout the week with your kids. We also have a repeating 6-week Spiritual Parenting small group that you can be a part of to learn more about raising your children to know God!

We have classes available each weekend for Infants through 5th grade.

All volunteers have passed background checks and we have security procedures in place to create a safe environment for your kids.

Did you come with kids? | The teaching time in our Worship Center is designed for adults (Middle School and older). Children, 5th grade and younger, will be much more comfortable in our TC Kids Ministry which is designed just for them! There, your child will engage in age-appropriate teaching, games, music and more. You can check your child in for a TC Kids Ministry classroom at the check-in table located in the Lobby. If needed, the Lobby becomes our Cry Room for parents with infants during service. If you have further questions, please stop by the TC Kids Ministry check-in table in the Lobby today.

Volume | If you find the music too loud, please visit the Welcome Table for ear plugs. Ear plugs are also available at the Worship Center doors.

Prayer Requests | Prayer requests can be submitted via https://thorncreek.church/prayer-request. The TC Prayer Team would love to pray for your requests during the week. There are also TC Prayer Team members available to pray with you after service at the front of the Worship Center.

Distractions | To allow you and those around you to be more fully engaged in today’s service, please refrain from leaving the Worship Center during service. Also, please turn off or mute all cell phones and other mobile devices. Please use the Lobby area for any necessary conversations.
QUESTION: Do you have a reputation for being a complainer?
DEFINITION: COMPLAINER:
The Greek word translated “complainer” means literally “One who is discontented with his lot in life.”

Grumbling is a sin.
QUESTION: Is there such a thing as harmless grumbling?
The road to your Promise Land is filled with trials and tribulations. Don’t complain along the way. You make it miserable for those around you, and God hears you.
Don’t grumble about work. It speaks more about your character than your job situation.
We say foolish things when we have a complaining spirit.
“Hell begins with a grumbling mood, always complaining, always blaming others.” - C. S. Lewis
Don’t be a thirsty complainer. It shouldn’t be that easy.

“Nothing destroys the warmth of a home faster than complaining. Nothing destroys the harmony of a marriage faster than complaining.” - Rick Warren
Don’t overlook the miracle of the day.
When you grumble, you test God. You are questioning His goodness in your life. It’s personal to God. Instead, thank God for all He’s done and trust Him.
“How tragic to be simplistic, comfort-driven Christians who think that when it feels good, God is good; and when it feels bad, we have the right to complain.” - Jim Cymbala, Pastor at Brooklyn Tabernacle
