1. Jesus' sheep…

1. Jesus' sheep belong to his flock.
hey
For Reflection/Discussion: What role did shepherding play in biblical times? Who are some of the important figures in the Bible who at one time served as (literal) shepherds? What lessons might serving as a shepherd teach those like Moses and David who went on to lead God's people? How does Ezekiel 34 help us better understand Jesus claim to be the Good Shepherd? In what ways are we like sheep? What difference does it make that we are Jesus' sheep? Why is it part of God's plan to have believers be part of a flock? Why is it important for the flock to be overseen by a pastor? In what ways is a pastor like a shepherd?

2. Jesus' sheep…

2. Jesus' sheep believe in his name.
hey
For Reflection/Discussion: In Jesus' day some people examined the evidence and information and concluded that Jesus was the promised Messiah. Others, who had access to the same evidence and information walked away— or became Jesus' enemies. What explanation does Jesus have for this? What questions, if any, does Jesus' explanation raise in your mind? Why is it important to remember, as we share our faith with others, that Jesus' sheep believe in his name?

3. Jesus' sheep…

3. Jesus’ sheep respond to his voice.

Do Sheep Only Listen to Their Shepherd?

Several people try to get the attention of a flock of sheep, without success. It's only when they're summoned by their shepherd that they look up, recognize him, and come racing over. "Do Sheep Only Listen to Their Shepherd?" YouTube video.

For Reflection/Discussion: How do people hear Jesus' voice today? Do you respond immediately and without hesitation to his call? What other voices are clamoring for our attention? Which voices do we tend to pay most attention to? Under what conditions are you most likely to be aware of Jesus' speaking to you? What steps can you take to help you focus more on Jesus and less to the voices competing for your attention?

4. Jesus' sheep…

4. Jesus’ sheep follow in his steps.
For Reflection/Discussion: In what ways are Christians called to follow in Jesus' steps? What does Jesus' example have to teach us about following him? How do Jesus' authoritative instructions, teachings, and commands show us how to follow him? How closely are you following Jesus?

5. Jesus' sheep…

5. Jesus’ sheep rest safe in his presence.
For Reflection/Discussion: How can we be certain that we are a part of Jesus' sheepfold and will never be snatched from his hand? How does Psalm 23 help us better understand Jesus' saying, "I am the Good Shepherd."
