I. Proverbs – they promote healthy relationships

• Proverb – a general truth captured in a short saying.

• With a wife: We all know that Proverbs 31 woman, don’t we?

Proverbs 31:10–12 . . . Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.

• With a Husband: Did you know there was a proverbs 31 man?

Proverbs 31:3–5 . . . Do not give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings. 4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, It is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes intoxicating drink; 5 lest they drink and forget the law, and pervert the justice of all the afflicted.

• With your children:

Proverbs 22:6 . . . Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:15 . . . Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

• With people:

Proverbs 20:19 . . . He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; Therefore do not associate with one who flatters with his lips.
Proverbs 22:26–27 . . . Do not be one of those who shakes hands in a pledge, One of those who is surety for debts; 27 If you have nothing with which to pay, Why should he take away your bed from under you?

• With God:

Proverbs 21:30 . . . There is no wisdom or understanding Or counsel against the LORD.

II. Principles – they inform right decisions

• A Principle is a fixed truth that is unaffected by circumstances

Colossians 3:13 . . . bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

• The principle of Forgiveness – You are to forgive as Christ has forgiven you

Matthew 18:21–22 . . . Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Matthew 6:15 . . . But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

III. Promises – provide confidence in God

Deuteronomy 9:5 . . . It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you go in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD your God drives them out from before you, and that He may fulfill the word which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

• Eternal security is based in God’s promise

John 10:28–30 . . . And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”
IV. Laws – they dictate your future

• Laws are the uniform and orderly method of the omnipotent God. They are the universal, unchangeable rules for the operation of the all things in the universe and they govern all your results.

• The law of sowing and reaping:

Galatians 6:7–8 . . . Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
