God says that my people die for lack of knowledge (Hos. 4:6), and that we will perish without vision. Vision is something God gives since He is the one who has a purpose, hope, and future for us. Vision can be constructed from God’s word when it comes to the soul. It was for freedom that Christ set us free!
1. God has got it!
a. Our soul is sanctified or restored by the Holy Spirit. 1 Thess. 5:23
b. Our mind is renewed by God’s word – truth! Rom. 12:2
c. Our will is captured by the will of God. Phil. 2:13
d. Our emotions are impacted by the fruit of the Spirit. Love, Joy, Peace.

2. Slaves? We are all captured – one way, or another.
Why does Paul use the slave illustration? Because it is the closest and best way to describe the will as it concerns corruption, bondage, freedom, and God’s providential plan and purpose for our lives.
3. Our response? Give Him ALL!
a. Since you and I are captured, why resist? Who better to be governed by? Isn’t this what it really is all about? Lordship?
b. Staying in love with Jesus keeps us connected to the vine of life.
c. Inviting Jesus into your mind, will, and emotions is the ONLY way to experience the freedom the Bible promises.
d. By yielding to Jesus as Lord, you position yourself to experience your hope and future. Pssst’… Don’t try to be your own savior. You’re not qualified!
e. Loving God with our strength is what we will cover next!
