The Coin

1. Peace is possible when we see past the illusion.
2. A tree with a view.
3. You don’t need more to give more.
Discussion Questions
1. Have you ever gone back to a place you remembered as amazing, only to think, ‘Wow… this looked a lot better in my childhood imagination’?
2. What’s something small that someone did for you, maybe years ago, that ended up making a big difference?

DIGGING DEEPER: These questions are designed to help you reflect on and discuss the message with others. You can use them in your community group, with a friend, or even with your spouse. You don’t have to cover every question—focus on the ones that spark the most meaningful conversation for you. Or simply let them serve as a springboard for talking through the ideas from the message that stood out to you.
1. What stood out to you from the drama, the message, or this passage?
2. Drew’s decision to turn down a promotion came from a moment of clarity. Have you ever had a moment where something small: a memory, an object, a story, helped you see your life differently?
3. Zacchaeus’s encounter with Jesus immediately changed his relationship with money and possessions. Why do you think spiritual transformation often shows up first in how we view or use our resources?
4. Consider Zacchaeus’s response: he moves toward generosity and repair. What might moving “toward generosity” look like for you this Advent season?
5. “You don’t need more to give more” was the central idea of the story of the widow’s gift of two small coins. What is something small, but meaningful, you could offer God or someone else this season?
6. Zechariah’s purpose wasn’t abstract; it had a name: John. How might your purpose become clearer if you looked at the relationships in your life rather than the roles or tasks?
