Hope of All the Earth: In the Most Difficult Time of the Year
November 30, 2025
Micah 5:1-5

Christmas is not the most wonderful time of the year for everyone.

Micah 5:1
Marshal your troops now, city of troops, for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel’s ruler on the cheek with a rod.

Your suffering isn’t unique.

Micah 5:2
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

Micah 5:3
Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor bears a son, and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites.

Micah 5:4
He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.

Micah 5:5
And he will be our peace when the Assyrians invade our land and march through our fortresses.

Your suffering isn’t unique.
In your suffering, you aren’t alone.

Isaiah 53:3-4
He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering…

Your suffering isn’t unique.
In your suffering, you aren’t alone.

Matthew 28:20
“I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Acts 1:11
“This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Your suffering isn’t unique.
You aren’t alone in your suffering.
Your suffering won’t last forever.

Revelation 21:4-5
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”

The ultimate suffering is moving through life and into eternity without God.

John 3:36
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”

The ultimate suffering is moving through life and into eternity without God.
The ultimate hope is to know God is with us through this life and into eternity.
