Psalm 46:8-9 (ESV)
Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.
Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.
Nothing is as dependable, trustworthy, and confidence-building as the character and promises of God.
1. Study Scripture
Hebrews 13:6
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
2. Reflect on your own life and experience.
Psalm 77:11
I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
3. Engage with other believers and their journeys.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
4. Learn and sing songs about God’s faithfulness.
Ephesians 5:19-20
… addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ…

“Remembering the specifics of how God has provided in the past fosters courage for the believer.” – Dr. David Jeremiah
Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Believers must choose the right fear.
Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Jesus commanded us to rightly align our fear.
Matthew 10:28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Believers must avoid the wrong fear.
2 Timothy 1:7
…for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
…for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
The wrong fear leads to disobedience, discouragement, disengagement, and disaster.
1 Samuel 15:24-26
Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. 25 Now therefore, please pardon my sin and return with me that I may bow before the Lord.” 26 And Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you. For you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.”

What are you most afraid of?
Isaiah 54:17
“…no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”
