The Text In Context

"We are not talking about simply a decision to subsist. To be or not to be: that is not the question really. God’s admonition to choose life, as we find it in this passage, is defined rather clearly here and within the..." (To read more, click link.)

1. Read and pray over Deuteronomy 30:19-20.

2. Spend time in prayer, asking that God would help you choose life.
Growth Group / Personal Reflection Questions

1. Deuteronomy 30 reminds us that choosing life is about living faithfully within God’s covenant. In what ways do you think people today settle for mere survival instead of truly choosing life? What helps you move from simply getting through life to living with spiritual purpose and vitality?

2. In Deuteronomy 30:11–14, Moses reminds the people that God’s command is not beyond their reach—it’s already in their hearts and mouths. Do the commands of God feel in reach to you? If so, why? If not, why not?

3. Have you ever experienced God’s Word coming alive or guiding you in simple, practical ways? If so, how?

4. What might idolatry look like in our culture today? What helps you notice when you're being pulled away from God?

5. In verse 15, Moses lays out two clear choices—life and prosperity, or death and destruction. What does “choosing life” look like in your season of life right now? How do small daily choices, (i.e. attitude, priorities, habits) move us toward or away from that life?

6. Why do you think God gives us the freedom to choose, even though it means we might make the wrong choice? Can you think of a time when a faithful choice brought you "life"?
