I. Confessing to God (Psalm 38:18)
II. Confessing to Others (James 5:16)
III. Confessional Rhythms (Hebrews 10:23-25)
Practice Guide:
1. Consider setting aside an intentional time of confession in your week. Take 30 minutes to examine your heart, use Psalm 139:23-24 as a template for your prayer. Confess the sins that God reveals before him.
2. Reach out to a trusted friend or family member and confess before them something you are struggling with. You don’t need to share details and you don’t need to bring a list.
3. Consider a weekly meeting with someone who you can rhythmically become vulnerable with (an accountability meeting with mutual confession).
4. Name past sins in writing and plan a time to dispose of the document. This is a helpful exercise both in naming struggles from your past, acknowledging the freedom you have from them, and releasing them permanently before the cross of Jesus Christ.
