Holiness

He is entirely free from sin and moral corruption.
Everything He thinks, says, and does is right, good, and just.
We see this description of God’s holiness in 1 John, where we are told, “God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.” (1:5)
Now, in order for God to be morally perfect, we must grow our definition of his holiness by including the fact that God is sacred/set apart.

Our responses to God's holiness

Sometimes we make excuses for our sin by saying that God is the only holy one, which IS true - but we should be striving for holiness with more vigor.

A positive way we can respond to His holiness is by becoming holy.

We need to repent. The Greek word for “repent” literally means “to change one’s mind.” And in the biblical sense, it’s not just intellectual — it’s a turning of the whole person:A changing of one’s mind about sin - seeing it as God sees it. A changing of one’s heart toward God - desiring to please Him.And a change in direction of one’s life - turning from sin to God.

2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” He also made the following statement in Acts 3:19, “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.”

Peter gives us a command to be holy. It’s a command that is all-inclusive - if we have been made holy by God, we are to be holy in all our conduct. It’s a command that is based on the holiness of the one who set us apart by making us into a new creation - not other people.
1) We need to get our mind ready.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6)

2) We need to focus on the future.

3) We need to resist being put into the world's mold.

4) We need to remember who our Father is.
