19 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd.4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

1.) Zacchaeus was wealthy and it wasn't enough.
"You have made us for yourself O Lord, our hearts are restless until they find find rest in you" - St. Augustine
"There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus." - Blaise Pascal
Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV - "God has set eternity in the human heart"
We do not wake up in this world calm and serene, having the luxury of choosing to act or not act. We wake up crying, on fire with desire, with madness. What we do with that madness is our spirituality....Long before we do anything explicitly religious at all, we have to do something about the fire that burns within us. What we do with that fire, how we channel it, is our spirituality. Thus, we all have a spirituality whether we want one or not, whether we are religious or not. - Ronald Rolheiser, The Holy Longing

Psalm 14:4 NIV
Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD.

2.) Jesus Calls Zacchaeus by his Name, not by his Sin
Romans 7:17 ESV
"So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me."
Nothing but prayer will ever reveal you to yourself, because only before God can you see and become your true self. - Tim Keller, Prayer

3.) One moment with Jesus can change everything
Hebrews 11:6 NIV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
4.) We have to live like one moment with Jesus can change everything.
