WE WANT EXPLANATIONS OF THE THINGS OUT OF OUR CONTROL. WE NEED AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE ONE IN CONTROL.
GOD IS IN CONTROL EVEN OVER THE SEEMINGLY UNCONTROLLABLE.
GOD OVERCOMES EVIL THROUGH JESUS—THE GREATEST ENCOUNTER.
“God does have the power to overcome the monster, but even for him, true victory over evil is a complex problem, and it is not one solved by brute force. Job, who had supposed that God could solve everything by just punishing the wicked and rewarding the good, needs to understand just how big and intractable a problem evil is. Whenever we seek to tell God how to deal with evil, we do not know what we are talking about. In Christian theology, the one who defeats the great dragon does not slay him in heroic combat. He instead defeats him through the cross, the ultimate act of the hidden wisdom of God.” Duane Garrett
