Applying Holy Spirit Discernment
Against Demonic Deception October 12, 2025

2 Timothy 3:12-17 NIV In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Luke 19:43-45 NASB “For the days will come upon you when your enemies will put up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, 44and they will level you to the ground, and throw down your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

Matthew 23:37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.

My Five Month Journey

1. “The days are quickly approaching in which the ability to discern spirits will be among the most essential gifts needed by the People of God.”

2. The same God who loves you as though you were the only one to love, is the same God who disciplines you as though you were the only one who needs correction.

· When Peter asked about John, Jesus replied “What is that to you?”

· To grasp these two facts is truly a game changer.

I. Reconnect with the Issachar Model.

A. 1 Chronicles 12:31-33 NIV from half the tribe of Manasseh, designated by name to come and make David king—18,000; 32 from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do—200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command 33 from Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty—50,000 warriors.

1. Understand the times in which we live.

2. Understand what is the wise thing to do.
II. Reconnect with the Spirit Model.

A. Romans 8:1-8 NIV Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set youfree from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

B. Two streams of “CARNALITY”

1. To act in an evil manner according to fleshly desire.

2. To use the strength of the flesh to do what can only be accomplished by the Holy Spirit.

III. Reconnect with the Spirit-filled Life Model.

A. Test the spirits.

1. 1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2. How?

a. By the Word of God

b. By the Witness of the Spirit

c. By the fruit the manifestation produces

3. “He who has ears, let him listen well to The Spirit.”

B. Trust the three-leveled work of the Holy Spirit.

1. Programs can be wonderful, but not without the Anointing of The Holy Spirit!
2. John 16:7-11 KJV Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

a. The Truth about Sin

b. The Truth about Righteousness

c. The Truth about Judgment.

C. Is The Fire of God falling in your life?

1. “Altars are made of hard things where the fire of God falls and flesh is consumed.”

2. Surrendered Lives

3. Sanctified Lives

4. Sacrificed Lives

5. “Perfectly orthodox, and perfectly dead.”

D. Get your prayer assignments from Heaven.

1. 1 John 5:14,15 KJV And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

2. I only do and say what I see the Father do and say. - Jesus

E. Fully commit to Scripture.

1. Proverbs 29:18 KJV Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

2. Proverbs 29:18 NASB Where there is novision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is one who keeps the Law.

3. Proverbs 29:18 NLT When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.

4. Trade the weapons of the flesh for weapons that are mighty in God!

5. Handle the Word of God with great reverence.

6. Steward carefully the idea of Revelation and understanding.

F. Walk in complete obedience.

1. Philippians 3:15 LB I hope all of you who are mature Christians will see eye-to-eye with me on these things, and if you disagree on some point, I believe that God will make it plain to you 16if you fully obey the truth you have.

2. Naaman’s example (2 Kings 5)

G. Walk in Covenant Love.

1. Ephesians 4:32 NASB Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
