I. My Savior (Mark 12:29-31)
II. My Self (Ephesians 1:3-5)
III. My Stuff (1 Timothy 6:17-19)
Practice Guide:
1. Review your bank statement and your calendar. What do these things say about your life? Can you see evidence of the ideas of biblical simplicity impacting your understanding of Savior, self, and stuff?
2. Discuss with someone you trust how or where you tend to find your identity. How might your life look different if you traded those identities in for one simple identity as a chosen child of the most high God?
3. When it comes time to clean the house or perform maintenance on the car, foster gratitude in your heart by thanking God for his provision and asking Him for the energy you will need to clean it or care for it.
4. Make a habit of sharing the things that you have with others, and borrowing things that you only need occasionally from others instead of buying them.
5. Ask your closest friend if they can see that you have a singular focus that is helping you discern the details of your life. Alternatively, ask them to observe the details of your life and tell you what they think your focus is.
