Align With the Why

1. God’s WHY is always to advance His kingdom.
2. Sometimes God’s WHY is to be generous rather than fair.
3.God’s WHY is to restore community.
4. Even when we don’t understand His WHY, we can still trust His heart.
Discussion Questions
1. Share a time when you prayed for something and didn’t get the answer you expected. Looking back, what did you learn from that experience?
2. What’s your most awkward or funny “prayer moment”? (Like the Meet the Parents clip or a childhood prayer gone sideways!)
DIGGING DEEPER: Although your group can answer all the questions, it may be helpful to ask your group which questions seem most relevant to their situation and start with those. Also, consider opening by asking what parts of the message spoke to each person.
1. What does this story teach us about the difference between doing for God and being with God? Where do you see yourself in this story lately? What helps you slow down enough to focus on simply being with God, rather than rushing to ask for something?
2. The early church didn’t pray for comfort; they prayed for courage. What might it look like for you to pray “bold prayers” that align with God’s kingdom rather than just your comfort?
3. “When your want gets aligned with His why, you start praying with power instead of panic.”
How does that idea challenge or encourage your current prayer life?
4. Why do you think God values generosity more than fairness? How could this truth change the way you respond when someone else is blessed?
5. Jesus’ miracles often restored people to community as much as to health. Where have you seen God use pain, prayer, or healing to bring people closer to Him—or closer to one another?
6. Mark said, “Sometimes God’s plan isn’t to take the problem away, it’s to show His power through it.” Can you think of a time God used a difficult situation to change you or grow your faith?
7. How does trusting your Father’s why help you keep hope alive when you don’t understand His ways?
8. What’s one prayer you want to pray differently this week—less about getting what you want and more about becoming who God wants?
