MC Students Lunch & Volunteer Meeting
Sunday, September 21 | 11:45am | Gym | If you currently serve as a volunteer for MC Students (or if you are interested in learning more about volunteering), there will be an important informational meeting immediately following the second service. Lunch will be provided.

Mexican Train Dominoes
Thursday, September 25 | 1pm | Join us at the Maple Valley Clubhouse, 1 Silver Circle, for an afternoon of fun and fellowship over dominoes! Hosted by MC Milestones, this off-campus outreach is a relaxed way to bring a friend and connect them with others from church—no pressure, just community. We can’t wait to see you there

Student Ministries Garage Sale
Friday & Saturday, September 26-27 | 8am-4pm | Student Ministries is hosting their annual garage sale during Manteno's Oktoberfest! Time to declutter your garages, basements, attics, closets, etc. They are collecting gently used, still decent items starting this Sunday! Drop your sellable items off in the gym behind the partition anytime next week during business hours, 8am to 4pm, or during nightly activities. This is a huge fundraiser for our students and we truly appreciate your support!

Alabaster Sunday
Sunday, September 28 | Alabaster Sunday is next week! It's not too late to stop by the table in the foyer to pick up an Alabaster box. Fill it with coins or cash over the next couple of weeks, then bring it back on offering day. This money makes it possible to provide spaces that serve communities, strengthen ministry efforts, and show that the Church of the Nazarene is here to stay. Every week, it helps support four new land and construction projects around the world.

Wednesday Night Dinner Menu: Creamy Chicken Enchiladas

Sermon Notes

In the Image of God: A Victorious Image
Psalm 8
September 21, 2025

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

You have a purpose, you are filled with power, and you are invited into partnership.

Psalm 8
1 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.... 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 5 You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.

Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; ...you will strike his heel.”

Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; HE WILL CRUSH YOUR HEAD, and you will strike his heel.”

Luke 10
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”

Hebrews 2
6... “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? 7 You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor 8 and put everything under their feet.”
In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them. 9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

Hebrews 2
14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Hebrews 2
18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Those who are in Christ have the authority of Christ to send the tempter away in the name of Christ.

Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
Psalm 8:2

Psalm 8
1 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. 2 Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 5 You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. 6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: 7 all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, 8 the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. 9 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
