If life is the outcome of the choices we make then we need to learn to make better choices.
A Made up Mind: is a willingness do the hard and heart work to find and follow the will of God for our lives.

A made up mind is a mind that is decisive.

Decisive: Making decisions quickly, confidently, and effectively, then sticking with them.
Key aspects of decisiveness:

-Act Quickly: Decisive people tend to make up their minds and act without hesitation.

-Confidence: They make choices with confidence and stick to their chosen course of action.

-Firm conclusions: Decisiveness leads to a firm resolution of a question or situation.

-Resilience: A decisive person is resolute and firm in their decisions, even when faced with challenges.

Ephesians 4:17-19 (ESV)
17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. 19 They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.
Ephesians 4:20-24 (ESV)
20 But that is not the way you learned Christ!— 21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, (Wavering) 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Put off our old self: Old manner (the choices that come out of your old ways)

Renewed in the spirit: Determine to have a Made up Mind as you put on the new self.

Likeness of God (Mind of Christ): The place where righteousness and holiness flows
The word decide/decisive literally means to cut off.
To "decide" is to cut away or remove other possibilities, thus resolving a situation or making a definitive choice.
Mark 9:43-45 (ESV)
43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell.
Making choices is serious business.
Colossians 3:5 (ESV)
5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
If we are going to be decisive in our decision making we have to have a made up mind to cut off options that don’t serve us well.

4 things that we have to be decisive with (cut off) if we're going to make good decisions.
#1 Doubt:
Doubt is the seed-bed of double mindedness.

Genesis 3:1 (ESV)
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
When faced with making a decision and doubt rises ask yourself: “What are you putting your faith in right now”?
Joshua 1:6 (ESV)
6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.
Be decisive and cut off doubt.

Joshua 1:9 (ESV)
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)
10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Be decisive and cut off fear.

Comparison:

If you find yourself making decisions based out of comparison you’ll never walk in the unique plan God has for you.

Numbers 11:4–6 (ESV)
4 Now the rabble that was among them had a strong craving. And the people of Israel also wept again and said, “Oh that we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic. 6 But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.”
If you find yourself making a decision based solely on what other people have or are experiencing you may miss out on what God is wanting specifically for you.
If you find yourself making decisions because you don’t feel like you measure up you may miss what God is desiring to do in and through you.
Be decisive and cut off comparison.
Compromise:
Joshua 1:7 (ESV)
7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good successwherever you go.
Be decisive and cut off compromise.

How are you going to be more decisive this week in cutting that off while making choices/decisions?
Why is it important?

Cutting off makes room for new growth.
