Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.

1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us.

2. This week, our Biblical text was Phil. 2:1-12, and the focus of Jon’s message was Paul’s admonition to serve as Christ has served us. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you?

3. Read Philippians 2:1-12 aloud. In verse 2 we are asked to be “like-minded with Christ.” What does this mean to you? How do we experience this in today’s world?

4. Paul is writing this letter from a jail cell in Philippi. Read the narrative of his time in Philippi in Acts 16:16-30. What evidence is there in these verses that shows Paul to be like-minded with Christ during this time?

5. Are there occasions or situations where you find it challenging to be joyful when putting others first? Why do you find this difficult on occasions? Does this only happen when you are among non-Christians or does it sometimes occur when you are with Christians as well?

6. Take a moment of silence as you consider how God is speaking to you. Do you sense God inviting you to bring greater joy into all your relationships? What concrete steps can you take in response? How can your group support you in these steps?
