Practical Application:
Mourning for our Sin

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 103:10-13 He does not deal with us according to our sins,nor repay us according to our iniquities.11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.13 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.

Discussion Questions - Re-read our main passage from this week (Zechariah 12:1-13:1) and then with your Growth Group, family, friends, etc. thoughtfully answer the following:

1. Do you believe that God still has special plans for the nation of Israel?

2. Why is it important to hold end times views with a certain degree of humility and mystery?

3. When was the last time you truly mourned for the realities of your sins? Without a regular mourning of our sins, it is easy to take for granted the grace of God. How could you make this a regular part of your spiritual disciplines?

5. How do you live with a full awareness of your sinfulness, and yet not live with shame and guilt?

6. How does an awareness of your sins help you to live compassionately caring for those who are far from God?

7. What’s your next step in response to this message?
