Home Group/Study Questions
These questions are provided for your further study and application of today’s sermon. Thoughtfully writing out the answers to these questions will help to drive home the truths we are learning.
1. Was there any passage of scripture or statement in the message today that was particularly meaningful or applicable to you?
2. Read John 15:12-14. How does the personal and painful cost of Christ’s redemptive love change the way you view the command to love others as he loved and sacrificed for others?
3. Read 1 John 3:11-18. Why does the church need to be warned against envy, rivalries, and selfishness? How do these subtly infect a congregation that professes to “love one another,” but actually engages in the opposite?
4. Read Philippians 2:3-4. Think through some examples of the ways you have failed to live up to this command. What are the excuses you are tempted to make as to why you can’t live this way?
5. Read Philippians 2:5-11. How does the way God the Father honored Jesus’ selflessness give you the faith to risk setting aside your personal desires, preferences, and reputation in service to others?
6. Read Hebrews 10:24-25. What steps can you take to sincerely and creatively give more thought to how you might encourage and spur on others in the church to love God, love others, and battle temptation?

Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is part of our worship. (2 Corinthians 9:7; Proverbs 3:9; Malachi 3:10)
We thank those who have helped us fulfill our mission and vision, and we ask you to pray that all of the giving to West End Baptist Church would be used to glorify God in carrying out His will as Scripture instructs and the Holy Spirit leads.
