GOD HAS FORGIVEN ME, I HAVE FORGIVEN OTHERS, NOW I’M GOING TO FORGIVE MYSELF
Col. 3:12-15a
Col. 3:12-15a
1. Have you ever done something wrong and you feel like you have disappointed everybody, including yourself and God? Luke 22:31-33, 54-62
2. The big question – even though you have asked God to forgive you – Do you still feel like a failure, a loser?
3. Three steps to complete and total forgiveness:
A. We must experience the forgiveness of God – vertical forgiveness
B. We must forgive others who have wronged us – horizontal forgiveness
C. We must forgive ourselves – internal forgiveness
* The ability to forgive ourselves is absolutely essential if any peace whatsoever is to be found.

4. When you deal with sin at the cross, be assured Satan is not through with you yet! Rev. 12:10
A. Satan will try to condemn you: John 3:17
B. If Satan can get you to hold a grudge against yourself, you will never be free.
C. You will punish yourself continually and you will drive yourself and those around you crazy.
D. You will develop a sense of unworthiness.

5. The fix:
A. Recognize the problem and accept God’s forgiveness.
B. Accept the fact that God’s forgiveness is:
* Fresh
* Final
* Forever
* Forgotten – He has forgotten it and so should you: Ps. 103:12; Heb. 10:17

C. Forgiveness is not a feeling - it is a fact - it is God’s grace: Rom. 6:14
D. When Satan reminds you of your failure and your past, you remind him of the cross and his future.
Bottom Line: Remember, for the child of God, failure is not final: Mark 16:1-7
