Genesis 4: Grace in Ruins

Genesis 4: Grace in Ruins

Title: Death, Destruction, Curses and Blessings What do I do with frustration, anger, or rejection? The story of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4 is raw and real. Two brothers. Two offerings. Two different outcomes. But the deeper story isn’t about sacrifice—it’s about the human heart and the grace of God. This week, we’re exploring: • Why God’s response to Cain may be more compassionate than you think • What to do when resentment starts building inside • How to live free from comparison and bitterness • A God who still pursues us, even when we feel far from Him Genesis 4:6 The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted?

Total depravity does not mean that every person is as bad as he possibly can be, but that every person is completely consumed by sin and there is no hope of his turning it around and “getting better’ on his own.

Romans 8:8 says, “Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

But there’s hope! The sinful human heart can be supernaturally changed.

Many people underestimate the depth of the love and power of our great God to save them from themselves!
“One of the consequences of sin is that it makes the sinner pity himself instead of causing him to turn to God. One of the first signs of new life is that the individual takes sides with God against himself.” (Barnhouse)
