An End And A Beginning (Genesis 11:10-22)

An End And A Beginning (Genesis 11:10-22)

Sunday, July 6, 2025 - Message #18 by Pastor Doug Corlew--"In The Beginning" (Genesis 1-11)

Locations & Times

1000 S Main St, Alta, IA 51002, USA

Sunday 8:30 AM

Sunday 10:00 AM

Sometimes a conclusion can mark the start of something brand new.

1. God keeps His promises through all generations. (v 10-26)
2. God calls unlikely people from unlikely places. (v 27-32)
Sermon Discussion
Applying God’s Word through Journey Groups, family devotions, or personal meditation:

Opener
1. Has there been a time in your life where “the end” of something turned out to be the beginning of something new?

Recap
2. Read Genesis 11:10-32 (or use an audio Bible to help with all the names!). What stood out to you from the sermon? Was there a verse or point that especially caught your attention or raised new questions?

3. In what ways have you seen God’s promises unfold quietly and faithfully over time in your own life?

4. In verse 31, the family “settled” in Haran instead of going all the way to Canaan. What are some ways Christians today might be tempted to “settle halfway”? What helps us to press on in obedience?

Digging Deeper—Read Joshua 24:2-3, 14-15 and Acts 7:2-4.
5. Abram’s story begins in a pagan city, among idol-worshipping people. What does that reveal about the kind of people God chooses to use? How does that encourage you?

6. Abram received God’s call while he was still in Ur, but didn’t fully follow until after Terah died. Have you ever felt held back in your walk with God by fear, family, comfort or something else? How did you respond?

Application
7. What stands in the way of you being fully surrendered to Christ? What might God be calling you to do to address that?

8. How has God been speaking to you through His Word in your personal Bible reading this week?
