Psalms Series: “Avoiding Toxic Attraction” Psalm 1 July 6, 2025 Pastor Bob Sipper

Do you know anyone that is intoxicated by watching TV crime shows? They can grab your attention, and before you realize it, you are invested and can’t pull away. Some crimes happen quickly, unexpectedly with a heated argument and gunfire. But with others, the toxic methodology is slow, intentional, and seldom identified until it’s too late. Spiritual health, like physical health, is driven by intentionality. God desires us to be healthy, but Satan introduces a toxic poison into the drama. And if we’re not careful, we ingest what harms us. As we begin a new series in the Psalms, join us in discovering how to avoid toxic attraction while thriving within God’s design. We’ll meet this Sunday, beginning with our LifeGroups at 9:00am, then we break for coffee and connections at 10:00am, immediately followed by worship at 10:30am. We’d love to see YOU this holiday weekend! CCLI License: 1097470 CCLI Streaming License: 20627938 CVLI License: 505486357

Avoiding Toxic Attraction
Psalm 1:1-6

How happy is the one who does not
walk in the advice of the wicked
or stand in the pathway with sinners
or sit in the company of mockers!
Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction,
and he meditates on it day and night.
He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams
that bears its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
The wicked are not like this;
instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand up in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.

Psalm 1 is an introduction to the entire collection of psalms.
