1. Jesus is addressing the APPEARANCE of holiness without the SUBSTANCE.
“Deceitful” - Uneven terrain; lacks consistency and steadiness; Unpaved trail, rocky and unstable, barriers that are fragile.
A. The Law was given so that we would KNOW God, the religious leaders turned it into a GOD.
B. Jesus never overturns the LAW, He reminds us of it’s true INTENTION.
“Evil thoughts” - Reasonings within oneself.
2. It is the DIRECTION of our heart that controls our ACTIONS, not the other way around.
A. Jesus came, not to establish His rule in the outside WORLD, but within the human HEART.
B. We CHANGE when we change what we WORSHIP most.
