Sermon Title: Paul goes to Corinth

Where is Corinth?
Corinth is located about 50 miles west of Athens, in southern Greece.

What was Corinth like?
To compare these two major Greek cities:
Athens was about the mind.
Corinth was about the money and the body.

In today’s world, Corinth would have the moral equivalence of Las Vegas, with the Trade Hub of New York City.

Who are Priscilla & Aquila?
They were Jewish tentmakers (leather workers) by trade. Who were followers of Jesus!

Why they matter?
- They’re an example of a married couple serving God together.
- They show that laypeople, not just the apostles, can teach, host, and lead in powerful ways.
- Their hospitality, humility, and courage helped shape the early church.

vs. 9-11, on “visions”

First: If visions are truly from God, they will never lead someone to contradict scripture. Visions from God will never lead someone to sin.
We should not rely on visions to replace God’s leading through His word and prayer.
God can speak through visions, but more common is Him speaking through his WORD, and speaking to us in seasons and times of prayer.

Second: Visions are personal, not universal. This was for Paul in
this moment, in this city, and for the next 18 months God upheld
his promise to Paul. No one else was to claim this vision as their
own. It was Paul’s.

What’s our take home today?
“Even when things get hard, God gives us friends, courage, and help so we can keep telling others about Jesus.”

Friends: Priscilla & Aquila and Silas & Timothy

Courage: God speaks to Paul what Paul needs to hear to keep going.

Help: God delivers Paul from his accusers.
Finances from a church or a couple churches helped Paul continue in ministry.
