Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Being led by the Spirit isn’t just about the decisions we make – it is about belonging.
God’s desire is to have a real relationship with us, not just to regulate our behavior.
When we have a relationship with Him – our behavior and decisions will be regulated by that connection and our desire to show our love to God.
The Spirit doesn’t just show us what to do or where to go; He reminds us of where we belong.
The Spirit we received does not make us slaves, so that we live in fear again.
This is the age-old struggle of relationship vs. religion.
The Spirit doesn’t make us slaves – it confirms we belong to the one who set us free.
We don’t have to live in fear because we have faith in Him!
We can’t be led by the Spirit without putting our faith in Jesus.
To be led by the Spirit is to be claimed, securely held as God’s own child.
The Spirit we received brings about our adoption to Sonship.
God’s love isn’t just shown by calling us His children—it’s what makes us His children.
God’s love doesn’t just reveal our identity—it makes that identity possible.
We can’t fully comprehend the love of God. But we can look at what His love does.
To truly see the love God has given us, we must look to Jesus—to the Cross.
It’s a love that gives Jesus for us and the Spirit to us—it brings us into God’s own life.
When we realize who this love is given to—broken, sinful people like us—it makes His love even more astonishing.
Above all, the Cross cries out: “Behold what kind of love the Father has given to us.”
God loves us as He loves Jesus.
It is by the Spirit we are able to cry “Abba Father.”
It is a term of endearment by a beloved child; like calling Him, “Daddy” or “Papa.”
Calling God “Abba” indicates an affectionate, dependent relationship – the very kind of relationship He desires to have with us.
Jesus called God “Abba” and by the Spirit we call Him Abba, too.
We serve a personal God who desires and offers a personal relationship with us.
He knows the smallest, and seemingly most insignificant details of our lives.
We have no reason to fear because of what we are worth to God.
The Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are indeed God’s children.
This describes the Spirit’s direct, experiential assurance of adoption.
This is a joint, internal testimony—Spirit with spirit—producing confidence in our familial position.
We are set free from fear as this joint witness anchors our identity and empowers victorious Christian living.
Since we are children of God – we are co-heirs with Christ.
We’re not talking about a finite inheritance. We’re not in an earthly economy.
The inheritance is INFINITE because we’re operating in heaven’s economy!
Coheirs don’t split the inheritance, they SHARE the inheritance.
Being coheirs with Christ affirms that we are indeed God’s children – ready, enabled, and empowered to walk in all the blessings that come with being His children.
Peter connects God’s plan of salvation to our inheritance as His children.
Through faith, we are shielded by God’s power! This enables us to see the purpose of our suffering.
We should be wary of any Gospel that tells us the Christian life is free from suffering.
Our suffering not only refines our faith, it identifies us with Jesus.
We will share in Christ’s glory as His coheir, if in fact we share in His suffering.
How could we participate in His glory – without participating in His suffering?
Resurrection requires crucifixion. New life requires the old-life to die!
Life in the Spirit requires us to put the misdeeds of the flesh to death.
Participating in Christ’s glory means we must participate in His suffering.
Suffering for the name of Christ is something to rejoice about because God’s Spirit and His glory rest on us.
We are protected – shielded by God’s power!
Let your suffering teach you to run to Jesus RIGHT AWAY! Call on Him in faith!
Our suffering must teach us to reject our flesh and surrender to the Spirit.
Our suffering points to Christ’s death. His life is also seen through our weaknesses and affliction.
Suffering certainly increases our anticipation of Christ’s return, but it also allows power and life of Jesus to be presently working and revealed in our daily lives.
That is the hope we have as God’s children – that He is close in every single moment.
We are His! He loves us as His own.

Worship Through Giving
Scripture tells us that the things we spend our money on reveal what is in our heart (Matthew 6:21). We believe that cheerful and sacrificial giving of our finances to the work of the local church is one of the deepest expressions of worship that we can offer and shows that we truly want to love as Jesus loved.
