STORM WARNINGS
SCRIPTURE
“…And God will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah. For He must remain in heaven until the time for the final restoration of all things, as God promised long ago through His holy prophets.” Acts 3:17-21
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen (Temple destruction), and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?” Matthew 24:1-3
We believe all of Matthew 24 is a “dual prophecy.”
STORM WARNINGS
We do not know when or how these things will happen. But we know they will happen!
The Storm Clouds Gathering
Deception
Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect (Christians). See, I have told you ahead of time.” Matthew 24:4; 24-25
Deception is a key marker of the end times (deception of some… of many… of most).
Re-visit “Temporary Suspension of Disbelief” sermon.
Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. 1 John 4:1
Wars & Rumors of Wars
“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” Matthew 24:6-7
Famines
“There will be famines…in various places.” Matthew 24:7
Earthquakes
“There will be…earthquakes in various places.” Matthew 24:7
Christian Persecution
“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of Me.” Matthew 24:9
“I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.” Francis Cardinal George
Deconstruction
“At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.” Matthew 24:10-11
Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day (of Christ’s return) will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness (Antichrist) if revealed. 2 Thessalonians 2:3
Wicked Living
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Matthew 24:12-13
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God. 2 Timothy 3:1-4
Gospel Advancement
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14
Israeli Sovereignty
“I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. I will make them one nation.” Ezekeil 37:21-22
Population Explosion
“I will greatly increase the population of Israel.” Ezekeil 36:10
Travel & Tech Increase
…until the time of the end (when) many will run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase. Daniel 12:4
The Rapture
“As lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Matthew 24:27;36
The Tribulation
“All these are the beginnings of birth pains. For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.” Matthew 24:8;21
The Return
“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.” Matthew 24:30
FIVE THINGS TO KEEP
1/ Keep your peace.
“Do not be alarmed. These things must happen.”
2/ Keep your eyes on Israel.
We need to pay attention and we need to pray.
3/ Keep your heart on Jesus.
4/ Keep your family prepared.
5/ Keep your life in motion.
The storm is coming. These are the most important questions you can ask:
Where am I now? Am I under shelter? Are those I love under shelter?
