God is generous and so He calls us to be as well. What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are at and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our finances.

Three Ways to Endure in Faith
The problem that Timothy is facing is the problem of false teaching.
The Church in this world will always battle the problem of false teaching, and if left unchecked, false teaching will always lead to apostasy.
Apostasy is a rejection of truth that a person professed to have once believed.

1. We endure in faith by having a radical Godward orientation (vv. 14-15a)
We can please God
To be sure, we are saved by grace and grace alone
When we receive salvation, we are brought into a new relationship with God as our Father, and in that relationship it becomes possible for us to please Him.
Pleasing God does not make us more God's child. We don't become more saved.
Trying to earn God's love is an impossible burden - It is a free gift
Who you want to please is really what shapes your beliefs and your behaviors
The first step toward apostasy happens when you start caring more about pleasing people than you do pleasing God.

3. We endure in faith by remembering the church will endure. (v. 19)
Why will the Church last?
God knows His people and His people are set apart
God's knowledge of His people is shown to us through the behavior of His people
