Paul described the gospel he preached with these verbs about Christ: died, buried, raised, and appeared... That last verb is very important, yet is often neglected when people think of the good news. But what good news it is—not that Jesus is alive, but that Jesus is around and wants us to have an encounter with his living presence. This series will explore how real and life-changing it is when we realize that Jesus is NOW APPEARING!

The Bible is filled with men and women who were regular, flawed humans with messy and imperfect stories....and then Jesus appears to them

But through God’s divine power, He gave them great and precious promises that enabled them (partakers) “to share His divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4).

The good news for each of us today is that we too share His divine nature!

No matter who you are—even if you feel like you’ve messed up too badly—you can still be used by God.
Through this series we are discovering what happens when Jesus appears...you’ll discover you cannot mess up too much for God’s grace to cover you!
In fact, He has an even greater plan for your life than you could ever imagine!
So, lets continue in this series by sharing that even though we are human and make mistakes, God can still equip us to build His kingdom like He equipped Peter the disciple.
John 19:28–30 (ESV)
28After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.”
29A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.
30When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Tetelestai...verd from Teleo that means to bring to an end, to complete, to fulfill
it means that an event had taken place and now the effect of that event is ongoing forever...

· Everything you believe comes from this one event with this one man
· Healing came from this event, joy, peace, Holy Spirit from this event

You live your life from this finish
So what do this mean? WE LIVE OUR LIVES FROM THE FINISH LINE!
Matthew 27:45–56 (NIV84)
45From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.
46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”—which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
47When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.”
48Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink.
49The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”
50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shookand the rocks split.
52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.
53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
54When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”
55Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs.
56Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
Four things we can live from this finish...

50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.
52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.
53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
Four things we can live from this finish
1. The Curtain Tore

Hebrews 10:19–20 (NIV84)
19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,

Ephesians 2:13 (NIV84)
13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

2. The Earth Shook
Hebrews 12:26–29 (NIV84)
26At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”
27The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
28Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,
29for our “God is a consuming fire.”
Matthew 27:54 (NIV84)
54When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”
3. The Rocks Split
1 Corinthians 10:3–4 (ESV)
3and all ate the same spiritual food,
4and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.
4. The tombs opened
Christianity is not true because a book bond in leather says it true! HOLD ON AND GET THIS TRUTH!

Because Christianity didn’t start with a book, it started with and event
That was called the Death, Burial and Resurrection
The Bible is not the cause of Christianity it was the result of a event that changed the world!
