The Bible isn’t about heroes you emulate.
It’s about a Savior you worship. And in Jesus, you’re never an underdog.

David was looking through the eyes of faith—seeing not just what was, but what God could do.
And when David runs toward Goliath—yes, the Bible says he ran toward him—he's not acting like someone who thinks he might lose. He's acting like someone who knows he's already won because God has promised victory.
Those lonely nights under the stars weren't just about protecting sheep—they were about developing a relationship with God.
So when David looked at Goliath, he didn't see an impossible giant. He saw a problem that his God had already solved. His confidence wasn't in his slingshot skills—it was in his relationship with the living God

David’s Confidence Was in God, Not Himself
The Real Battle Was Always About Faith

Step Out of the Underdog Mentality

David isn't the hero of this story—God is. And David knew it.
David's faith wasn't self-confidence. It was God-confidence.
And there's a world of difference between the two.
- Self-confidence says, 'I can do this.'
- God-confidence says, 'God can do this through me.'
- Self-confidence depends on your abilities.
- God-confidence depends on God's promises.
- Self-confidence falters when you fail.
- God-confidence stands firm because God never fails.

First, we need to recognize where our confidence comes from. Not from our strength, not from our résumé, not from our past successes. Our confidence comes from Christ alone.
Second, we need to face our giants with God-confidence, not self-confidence. When you look at your challenges, don't ask, 'Am I enough?' Ask, 'Is God enough?' The answer is always yes.
Third, we need to remember that in Jesus, we're never fighting alone. Just as David knew God was with him on that battlefield, we know that Jesus is with us in every battle we face. 'I am with you always,' Jesus promised, 'even to the end of the world.'
Finally, we need to understand that our victory is already secured. Not because we're strong enough to win, but because Jesus has already won the ultimate battle. On the cross, Jesus defeated sin and death—the greatest giants of all. And in him, we share in that victory.
