Paul’s Legacy
Acts 20:18-35
Main point: Live your gospel legacy as a Jesus follower
Paul’s example of the gospel: “how I lived” (18-21)
Actions: serving the Lord (humility, tears, trials)
Words: always teaching anything profitable
Message: repentance toward God and faith in Jesus
Paul’s departure in clear conscience: “I am going” (22-27)
Control: bound by the Spirit
Life: not held (so long as he finished well)
Conscience: clear (he taught them the gospel)
Paul’s charge to pay attention: “yourselves/the flock” (28-31)
Wolves from without and within will destroy
Be alert and be all-in as leaders
Paul’s commendation to God: “and the word of His grace” (32)
Paul’s legacy of generosity: “I have shown you” (33-35)
Providing for himself and his team
Showing we should bless others
Application
Live the gospel
Leave when God calls
Charge the next generation
Commend to God
Always live generously
Response
How are you living out the gospel?
What have you done to prepare for your departure?
How will you charge the next generation?
What would it look like to commend others to God?
Is generosity the hallmark of your life?
