Remember
• To be able to bring to one's mind an awareness of (someone or something that one has seen, known, or experienced in the past).
1. Capture MEMORIES
2. Develop a mature PERSPECTIVE
Mature
• fully developed physically; full-grown.
• having reached the most advanced stage in a process.
3. Maturity is the SANCTIFICATION process described in layman’s terms.
4. Cultivate a MERCIFUL memory
The Joy of your salvation should occupy the space where BITTERNESS and GRUDGES used to live.
Unforgiveness and bitterness amplifies the BAD and minimalizes the GOOD.
GRATEFULNESS and FORGIVENESS magnify God’s goodness and grace and gives purpose to our struggles.
If God applied the same level of SCRUTINY to your past as you apply to others, would you survive?
When it comes to people flaws ZOOM OUT.
When it comes to God’s goodness and holiness ZOOM IN.
5. Build MONUMENTS
6. Remember often
Just like Memorial Day we should have remembering and reminiscing built in to our daily lives.
Reclaiming our memories with GRACE

Talk About It

Discussion Questions:
1. Do you see the value in the trials from your past?

2. Are your memories focused on the goodness of God or the failures of men?

3. Are your memories of the past rooted in mercy or judgement?

Next Step:
• Make it a point to retell the stories of your past through the lens of the Gospel.
