Sunday Sermon
Series: Genesis 2: God’s Design for Life And Relationships God created us for relationship. Adam needed more than responsibility, he needed companionship. In this beautiful portion of scripture, we see how God met that need with design, purpose and care. Marriage was God’s plan, not man’s. This Sunday, we will learn about our identity and unity in marriage. Remember, God’s truth never Changes! Genesis 2:18 Now the Lord God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [one who balances him—a counterpart who is] [i]suitable andcomplementary for him.”

At the 2023 American Anthropological association conference, a session about skeletal differences between males and females was cancelled because it was considered, “transphobic”. The association said there is no single biological standard by which all humans can be readily sorted into a binary, male/female sex classification”.
Doctor Georgia Purdom a PhD Geneticist retorts, “I can confidently say this is scientifically absurd, and as a Christian I can say it's Biblically wrong as well”

One article said: “Sex is a biological trait that is determined by the specific sex chromosomes. Gender, on the other hand is socially, culturally and personally defined.”
· Taber’s Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary defines gender as, “The sex of an individual (i.e., male or female)” and sex as, “the characteristics that differentiate male and female in most plants and animals.
· The Bible does not separate gender from sex. Gen 1:27 refers to the creation of male and female (sex) and in Genesis 2 we read of the creation of man and woman (gender) in more detail.

Love must be tested.
§ Adam and Eve were not innocent little children
§ Adam was not lacking for beautiful trees and food.
§ He had the godlike quality of free will and had to choose to follow.
§ Everything was perfect.
· No excuses.
· Sounds a lot like you and me!

Not Good
1. Mankind was meant to be in vital relationships
2. How will Adam relate to himself if he doesn’t have one corresponding to him? (Different but the same.)
3. How will he reproduce if there is no one corresponding to him?
“One who balances him—a counterpart who is suitable and complementary for him.” AMP

God gives to man the responsibility (and the accountability) to be the leader in the home and gives to the woman the responsibility and the accountability to help him.
God used Adam’s own body to create Eve to forever remind him of their oneness.
There is a beautiful Jewish tradition saying God made woman, not out of man’s foot to be under him, nor out of his head to be over him, but “She was taken from under his arm that he might protect her and from next to his heart that he might love her” (Barnhouse).

🛎 CHALLENGE TO THE CHURCH
Parents, are you teaching your kids what it means to be male and female—made in God's image with divine purpose?
Men, are you leading with humility, loving your wives as Christ loves the Church?
Women, are you walking in your God-given strength and design, not settling for cultural counterfeits?
Young people, are you grounding your identity in how you feel—or in who God says you are?
Church, are we willing to speak the truth boldly—but with tears in our eyes and love in our hearts?
Truth without love is harsh.
And love without truth is hollow.
But truth with love? That’s the gospel.
✨ FINAL WORD
“When God made you, He wasn’t confused.
He was intentional.
And He called it—very good.”
So now the question is…
Will you live like it?
