WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT PRISCILLA

Roman Upbringing: Highly educated and respected, possibly of noble birth and related to a Roman senator

Leader in the Church: Served alongside her husband and Paul to teach and host house churches

Tentmaker: Worked with leather and fabric to make tents, funding their ministries
Paul met Aquila and Priscilla in the city of Corinth

Paul's Second Missionary Journey
- Not much success between Philippi and Corinth

- Priscilla and Aquila were only in Corinth because all the Jews had been kicked out of Rome by Emperor Claudius (AD 49/50)

- Priscilla and Aquila traveled with Paul to the city of Ephesus

- They encountered a man named Apollos and corrected his teachings on baptism
LEARNING FROM THE MOTHER OF TEACHERS

Priscilla + Aquila
- True Partnership: Always mentioned together, whether working, teaching, or hosting

- True Hospitality: Always found ways to invite people in and take care of others

Priscilla Still Speaks
- Use your gifts! The Holy Spirit doesn’t care if you’re male or female.

- There is no sacrifice too great for the sake of the Gospel. Take risks for Jesus.

- Open homes lead to open hearts and minds. Full stomachs lead to full spirits.

- There is no such thing as a solo disciple. Following Christ only happens in community and relationships.
___________

KINGDOM MOTHERS
See Luke 8:1-3; John 19:25; Luke 23:55 – 4:1; Acts 1:14; Romans 16:1-7

These women funded Jesus’ ministry. They were last at the cross and first at the tomb. These women were present at the birth of the church and were vital to helping the church spread and thrive.
