Rock Bridge Community Church

REAL TALK - PART 3
Let’s be real—relationships are beautiful, but they’re also complicated. Whether it’s marriage, family, friendship, or community, navigating them in today’s world isn’t always easy. In this series, we’re pulling up a chair and having honest, biblical conversations about the things that matter most. Because when Jesus is at the center of our relationships, everything begins to change. No filters. No fluff. Just real talk about how to build stronger, healthier connections that reflect God’s heart and His design for us.

MAY 11, 2025 | MATT EVANS
Ephesians 5:1-2
Mother’s Day is a counter-cultural event.
Define love:
The willing self-sacrifice for the good of another that does not require reciprocation or that the person being loved is deserving
Question:
What in me (or about me) must die (be given up) for me to really love?
The great enemy of love: self-centeredness
1) “Love” (and relational practices) that are un-discipled.
2) Anger as a tool and woundedness as a driver in relationships.
3) The reduction of manhood and womanhood (see Ephesians 5:21-33)
4) The minimization of the importance of singleness.
5) Prayers for the “wrong me”
