May the Lord be With You.
1. The Reality of the Battle
Ephesians 6: 10-12
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against… spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
2. The Armor of God: Equipped for Battle
Ephesians 6:13–17
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day… Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
God doesn’t send us into battle unprepared. He gives us His armor, powered by His strength, not ours.
-Belt of truth:
Truth holds us together, like a Jedi’s discipline.
John 8:32
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
-Breastplate of righteousness:
Christ’s righteousness, given through faith, protects our hearts. Our good deeds fail, but Jesus’ perfection guards us
Philippians 3:9 …and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
Shoes of the gospel of peace:
Like rebels spreading hope against the Empire, we’re ready to share the gospel. Christ’s good news brings peace to a broken world.
Romans 10:15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!
-Shield of faith
Faith deflects Satan’s attacks—doubt, fear, or temptation—like a Jedi blocking blaster bolts. Trust God’s promises, no matter what
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
-Helmet of salvation:
Salvation secures our minds. Knowing we’re saved in Christ protects us from despair, like a rebel’s hope in dark times
1 Thessalonians 5:8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation
as a helmet.
-Sword of the Spirit
The Bible is our lightsaber—sharp and powerful. It cuts through Satan’s lies
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
This armor isn’t earned—it’s a gift of grace through faith in Jesus, who defeated sin on the cross
Ephesians 2:8–9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
3. The Power of Prayer
Ephesians 6:18 Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.
In Star Wars, the Force is a mystical connection, but it’s make-believe. Prayer is real—it’s our direct line to the living God who hears and strengthens us.
Prayer aligns us with God’s will, draws on His power, and unites us as His people.
Without prayer, we’re like a Jedi cut off from the Force—powerless.
4. The Certainty of Christ’s Victory
Ephesians 6:10 Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
In Star Wars, the Rebellion’s hope hung on fragile plans and desperate battles. Our hope is certain, anchored in Christ’s victory on the cross and His coming return.
Colossians 2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
Jesus disarmed Satan’s power at Calvary and will destroy evil forever when He returns
Revelation 19:11–16 i saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.
He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations.
“He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.
The war is won, but the battle continues. Fight in Christ’s strength, knowing He’s already secured the victory.
Big Idea: Living as Soldiers of the Cross
Put on the armor daily
Stand firm for truth:
The world, like the Empire, pressures you to conform—on morality, family, or faith. Stand for God’s Word, even when it’s costly
Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Share the gospel
Be like the Rebel Alliance, spreading hope.
