Next Generation (Genesis 5:1-32)

Next Generation (Genesis 5:1-32)

Sunday, May 4, 2025 - Message #9 by Pastor Doug Corlew--"In The Beginning" (Genesis 1-11)

Locations & Times

1000 S Main St, Alta, IA 51002, USA

Sunday 8:30 AM

Sunday 10:00 AM

Three ways we can influence those who come after us:
1. Passing on a spiritual legacy (v 1-17)
2. Walking with God in true faith (v 18-24)
3. Anticipating Christ's glorious return (v 25-32)
Sermon Discussion
Applying God’s Word through Journey Groups, family devotions, or personal meditation:

Opener
1. What are your feelings about the generations that came before and after you?

Recap
2. Read Genesis 5:1-5, 21-32. What stood out to you most from the sermon? Was there a particular verse or point that resonated with you?

3. How would you describe the influence that your parents had on your faith?

4. What does it mean to “walk with God”? Describe someone who does this.

5. Consider the meaning of Methuselah’s name as well as 2 Peter 3:9. What does this tell us about God? How should we live in light of this?

Digging Deeper—Read Deuteronomy 4:9 and 6:6-9.
6. According to these passages, what is the most important thing to pass on to the next generation?

7. How natural is it for you to talk about spiritual things? Free and easy? Hard and awkward? Why?

8. As a parent, spouse, friend, or coworker—what is one simple way you can incorporate more spiritual conversation into your daily life?

Application
9. In what ways can you “pass on” your faith to the next generation, whether or not you have children?

10. Close by praying as a group for the next generation. Ask God to use you to pass on a legacy of faith and trust in God.
