Sunday 8:15 AM

Phillip was worried about how much it would cost to give each person a single bite.
Jesus gives 20,000 people their fill from just 5 loaves and 2 fish.
AND there were 12 baskets full of leftovers!
Jesus is the prophet God promised through Moses.
He would represent God before the people and represent the people before God.
God would put His Word in His mouth.
Feeding the multitude confirmed that Jesus is the long-expected Messiah.
The next morning, the crowds went searching for Jesus on the opposite shore.
They weren’t looking for spiritual growth, they were looking to indulge their flesh.
Do not to pursue food the spoils but pursue the food that endures to eternal life.
The work of God is to believe in the one He has sent. Believe in ME!
The people ask, “What sign will you perform to help us believe in you?”
When Jesus fed them, they acknowledged who He was but still didn’t believe in Him.
They knew Him but didn’t put their faith in Him.
Matthew 7 says that many who cry “Lord, Lord” will be cast into outer darkness (hell). Jesus will say to them, “Depart from me, I never knew you.”
In Matthew 16 Jesus said only a wicked and perverse generation asks for a sign when they have been provided already.
We cannot miss the signs and proof that Jesus is the Messiah.
We must put our faith in Him so that we can have life in His name!

The crowds basically said to Jesus, “Look what you did yesterday was great and all – but Moses gave us bread from heaven for 40 years in the wilderness.”
Jesus tells them it was God who provided that bread from heaven.
The bread that God gives brings life!
Jesus says, “I am the bread of life. I am that bread from heaven.”
The bread God rains down from heaven – brings LIFE!
Feeding 2 million people for 40 years is 87.6 billion meals.
God allowed His people to experience hunger so that He could feed them.
He was teaching them to depend on Him for everything.
The ultimate lesson is that we don’t live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Life is found in God – not just through our daily bread (food) – but on His Word.
Jesus is the Word of God in the flesh.
He is the bread life raining down from heaven to give life to all who believe in Him!
We must go to Him to have the life He brings.
Who comes to Him will never go hungry. Who believes in Him will never be thirsty.
When we seek Jesus, He will satisfy us with His life!
Hunger – a deep desire which moves you to pursue what you’re craving; to crave ardently; to earnestly seek after with the goal of obtaining the object of your desire
Those who hunger & thirst for righteousness, are actively pursuing it by pursuing Him.
If you actively seek right standing with God through JESUS – you will be blessed. You will be joyful and nourished by God’s goodness.
Jesus is the bread of life, and His goodness is a blessing that completely satisfies.
1 John 2 says the things of the world will pass away, but those who do God’s will, live forever! Pursuing the things of the world separates you from God.
Don’t spend your money – your time – your effort on that which is not bread!
Don’t pursue the things that do not give life!
In our brokenness, how often have we gone after the thing that makes us feel better rather than the ONE thing that makes us whole?
The invitation is there – and it is for EVERYONE of us – right now. God says, come to me. Listen to me. Eat and be satisfied. Pursue me – and you will have LIFE!
The true, living Bread of Heaven is here. Those that eat this bread will live because Jesus is the bread of LIFE!
Jesus gave His flesh for the life of the world!
Can we see the real meaning behind Jesus’s question to Phillip? How much bread will it take to feed the crowd? Where can we buy that bread? It is JESUS!
Jesus is the bread that brings true life to the crowd – and to all who would believe. To all who would take Him into their lives.
We must take His life and death into ourselves.
Jesus uses the metaphor of eating and drinking to represent the intimate and inseparable union that He desires to exist between us.
If we partake in His flesh and blood – we have His life in us!

Worship Through Giving

Scripture tells us that the things we spend our money on reveal what is in our heart (Matthew 6:21). We believe that cheerful and sacrificial giving of our finances to the work of the local church is one of the deepest expressions of worship that we can offer and shows that we truly want to love as Jesus loved.
