PRELUDE
ANNOUNCEMENTS
SHARED GREETING
Please stay in your pew and greet your surrounding neighbors with a hello. When done we will sing without holding hands,

“They’ll Know We are Christians”
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
Yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love
Call to Worship - A Call to Worship, drawn from sentences of Scripture, expresses God’s invitation to gather as Christ’s body in this place.

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 19:1-4
Leader: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
All: Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
Leader: They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.
All: Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

Prayer of Confession and Silent Prayer - Having praised the holiness of God, we must also face the sinful state of the world and our lives, confessing our unworthiness to enter into God’s presence. Nevertheless, we approach God with confidence, trusting in the mercy of Jesus Christ. We start this off with a communal confession and follow it up with silent and personal confession to God of our sins.

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, we confess that our hearts are divided when it comes to work. Forgive us when we fail to find the inherent joy and purpose you intend for our work, and instead see it merely as a means to an end, longing only for the respite it provides. We struggle with the balance of work, at times driven by an unhealthy ambition that consumes, and at other times lacking the diligence and energy that you require. We acknowledge the temptation to let our work define us, to seek our identity and worth in its demands and achievements, rather than centering our lives and our efforts on you. Help us to realize that all our labors are meant to bring you glory, and that our labor is never in vain when we work for your kingdom purposes. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon - A declaration of forgiveness that proclaims the good news of God’s mercy and offers the assurance of pardon in Jesus’ name.

SILENT PRAYER AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Catechism or Confession - As a Reformed church rooted in the history of Christianity, we recite creeds, confessions, and catechisms that explain biblical teaching and help us to remember the lessons of God’s Word.

APOSTLE’S CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Children’s Time - Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). To this end we invite all children forward to hear a message designed to help bring them closer to the majesty of God and his Son.

CHILDREN’S TIME
Scriptures - The Scriptures bear witness to the Word of God, revealed most fully in Jesus Christ, the Word who “became flesh and lived among us” (John 1:14). Where the Word is read and proclaimed, Jesus Christ the living Word is present by the power of the Holy Spirit. The role of the congregation is to listen prayerfully, actively, and attentively to the Word that is read and proclaimed.

*HYMN 490 “Little Is Much When Giod Is in It”
Prayer of Concerns and Thanksgivings - In response to the Word, we pray for the world God so loves – joining in Christ’s ministry of praying for others before the throne of God. These prayers are not the work of a single leader, but an act of the whole congregation as Christ’s royal priesthood.

PRAYER OF CONCERNS & THANKSGIVINGS
Offering, Doxology, Prayer of Thanksgiving - Christian life is an offering of one’s self to God. Tithes and offerings are gathered as an act of thanksgiving to God for all of the blessings that he has given us and for the work of his church. In response we sing glory to God and lift up prayer thanking him for his blessings and to continue to bless the work of the church through our offerings.

OFFERING
By giving to our church, you help us assist others in our local community and in the world at large. https://cpcedison.org/ways-to-give/
DOXOLOGY
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
*HYMN 530 “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say”

Benediction - The Service is concluded with a charge and blessing to congregation. This calls us to go forth as agents of God’s mission in the world and reminds us that God walks with us and blesses us in order to be a blessing to others.
