"More to the Story" is a three-week sermon series rooted in the belief that God isn’t finished with The Shores Church. Using the semicolon as a symbol of continuation, the series casts vision for the future while honoring the church’s 99-year legacy. Week one focuses on Philippians 1:6, reminding us that God's work is ongoing. Week two is based on Isaiah 43:19, highlighting God’s desire to do something new through us as we prepare for future ministry. The final week is a heartfelt reflection on the church’s impact and an invitation to invest in its future
The Unfinished Masterpiece
God Is Still Writing Our Story
Isaiah 43:1-19 (ESV)

43 But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you.
Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.

Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you. I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afarand my daughters from the end of the earth,

everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes ,who are deaf, yet have ears! All the nations gather together,
and the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this,
and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right, and let them hear and say, It is true.

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me, no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.

I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior. I declared and saved and proclaimed, when there was no strange god among you;
and you are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and I am God.

Also henceforth I am he; there is none who can deliver from my hand;
I work, and who can turn it back?”Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake I send to Babylon and bring them all down as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice.I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.”

Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, who brings forth chariot and horse, army and warrior ;they lie down, they cannot rise ,they are extinguished, quenched like a wick:
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

The Story Is Bigger Than You, And Is Still Being Written
Philippians 1:3-11 (ESV)

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all, making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the End of the age.”
For those exploring faith and checking out The Shores Church:

Whether you join us online or in person, Pastor Scott and Annie want you to know that you are genuinely welcome at The Shores Church. Our mission is simple: We want to help people live lives anchored to Jesus. That’s not a one-time moment—it’s a journey, and every journey starts with a first step.

If you’ve never decided to accept God’s forgiveness and declare Jesus as the Lord of your life, today could be the day everything changes. Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Salvation is the beginning of a life anchored in Jesus. It’s a personal belief that God sent His Son to die on the cross for your sins, that He was buried, and that He rose again on the third day. But it’s also more than belief—it’s a confession. It’s saying out loud, “I need Jesus, and I want Him to lead my life.”

If you’re ready to take that step, your prayer could be as simple as this:
"Jesus, I believe You are for me. I believe You died, were buried, and rose again for me. I confess I am a sinner, and today I receive Your forgiveness. I declare that You are the Lord of my life. Thank You for loving me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen."

If you prayed that prayer—or are still processing—we would love to hear from you. Following Jesus is a lifelong journey, and you don’t have to walk it alone. We’re here to walk with you every step of the way.
