As the Great High Priest, Jesus cleansed the Temple so that nothing got in the way of wholehearted, holy worship of God.
What unholy attitudes, distractions, or habits are you allowing to prevent you from offering holy worship to God alone?
1. Sin Confronted.
J.C. Ryle - “He will purify His visible church as He purified the temple. He will cleanse it from everything that defiles and works iniquity, and cast every worldly professor out of its pale. He will allow no worshiper of money, or lover of gain, to have a place in that glorious temple, which He will finally exhibit before the world.”
2. True Worship Restored
How many of us gather here on Sunday mornings to appear right before God, but the cries of prayer have long been drowned out by the hustle and bustle of life?
Prayer isn’t the add on or the thing you do to transition to worship, it’s the foundation for acceptable worship to God and for many of us, it has long been abandoned for other things.
3. The Nations Welcomed.
To the Jews, this was their Temple to worship God as they pleased. Jesus reminds them that this was His Temple where He will be worshipped as He commands.
